New 2026 Volkswagen Teramont Pro Details
Volkswagen has just pulled the covers off the New 2026 Volkswagen Teramont Pro in China, and it’s grabbing global attention. Why? Because this stylish and advanced seven-seater SUV could be giving us an early look at the New Teramont Pro—the brand’s next-gen family SUV for North America.
A Bolder and Sleeker Look
The Teramont Pro’s exterior has been greatly upgraded. At the front, it gets a fully enclosed grille, which flows into large, modern headlights. A new sporty front bumper adds sharper character, with neatly sculpted air intakes giving it an athletic feel.
From the side, the design looks clean and premium. You’ll notice flush-mounted door handles and a smooth character line that stretches along the body, making the SUV look longer and more refined. At the back, a rear light bar connects pixel-style taillights, and a roof spoiler finishes the sleek look.
In terms of size, the Teramont Pro is longer, wider, and taller than the current Atlas:
- Length: 203.1 inches
- Width: 78.4 inches
- Height: 70.4 inches
That’s 2.4 inches longer than the current Atlas, meaning more space inside for passengers and cargo.

A Tech-Rich and Luxurious Interior
Volkswagen hasn’t revealed all the interior features yet, but the glimpses we’ve seen are promising. The cabin includes:
- A digital instrument cluster
- A floating infotainment touchscreen
- An extra display for the front passenger
Volkswagen also hints at three more screens—likely for a rear-seat entertainment system—making this SUV perfect for families and road trips.
Luxury features are everywhere. You’ll find:
- A panoramic sunroof
- A premium Harman Kardon sound system
- 30-color ambient lighting
- A fragrance diffuser
- Rear climate control and manual sunshades
Additionally, the front passenger is equipped with what VW refers to as the “Queen Seat,” a power-adjustable seat that has an electric footrest, ventilation, and a massaging function for maximum comfort.
The floating center console and wireless phone charger round off the premium feel.
Powertrain: Stronger, Smoother, and Cleaner
The new EA888 Evo5 engine, which is a significant improvement over the existing generation, powers the Teramont Pro. This 2.0-liter turbocharged engine now produces:
- 268 horsepower
- 295 lb-ft of torque
That’s a nice bump from the older version, offering 51 more horsepower and 37 lb-ft more torque. It’s also more efficient and cleaner, thanks to:
- Miller cycle operation (improves fuel economy)
- 500 bar high-pressure fuel system (better combustion and fewer emissions)
- Variable-geometry turbocharger
- Updated exhaust purification system
- Stronger internal components like the crankshaft, pistons, and connecting rods
- Improved lubrication, intake, and intercooler systems
The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive. This setup allows the SUV to go from 0 to 62 mph in 7.6 seconds—not bad for a three-row family hauler.

Advanced Driving Technology
Beyond the engine, the Teramont Pro also features some smart tech:
- DCC Adaptive Chassis Control: Adjusts suspension for a smoother or sportier ride
- IQ. Pilot System: Volkswagen’s L2+ semi-autonomous driving tech that helps with steering, acceleration, and braking
- Remote Parking Assist (aka “Parking Butler”): You can park the SUV from outside using your smartphone—very handy in tight spots
What This Means for the 2026 Atlas
Although SAIC-Volkswagen is building the Teramont Pro for the Chinese market, its features and design may serve as a sneak peek for the upcoming 2026 Atlas that will be available in North America. Imagine a much more upscale driving experience, a larger cabin, attractive new designs, and modern technology.
If the U.S.-bound Atlas gets even half of what we see in the Teramont Pro, it’s safe to say Volkswagen’s SUV game is about to level up.
