Modern German engineering and classic design are combined in the 2025 BMW 7-Series. At first glance, its upright, squared-off profile might remind you of BMW’s older luxury sedans, but step inside and a world of premium comfort, advanced technology, and thoughtful luxury touches greets you.
The cabin can be finished in rich leather or, for a truly unique option, a soft cashmere finish. Music lovers will appreciate the standard 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, with an available 36-speaker upgrade for an even more immersive experience. The 740i’s smooth inline-six will be more than enough for most buyers, but if you want serious power, the 760i’s V8 delivers it in spades. For maximum comfort, especially if you’ll be chauffeured, the Executive Lounge package and Theater Screen are must-haves.
Performance
The standard 740i’s 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine generates 375 horsepower with the aid of a 48-volt mild hybrid system. It’s rear-wheel drive by default, with all-wheel drive available. The 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid delivers 483 horsepower and over 35 miles of electric-only range (BMW’s estimate). With a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing 536 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and seamless acceleration, the top-tier 760i xDrive can reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Every 7-Series comes with air suspension, adaptive dampers, and rear-wheel steering. This keeps the ride plush while making the big sedan surprisingly agile.
Fuel Economy
The EPA rates the 740i at 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Opting for the V8-powered 760i drops that to 18/25 mpg. In real-world testing, the 760i xDrive managed an impressive 30 mpg on the highway.

Interior and Comfort
BMW has gone all out with interior materials—fine leather, cashmere, polished metal, and genuine wood trim. Space is generous in both rows, but the rear seats are especially comfortable with the Luxury Rear Seating package, which adds reclining seats, massage functions, neck pillows, and even a wireless charging pad.
The trunk is spacious for a full-size luxury sedan, and a pass-through makes carrying skis or other long items easy.
Tech and Infotainment
The dashboard combines a digital instrument display and a large infotainment screen under a single glass panel. Updates may be made over the air, and the latest iDrive 8.5 software functions flawlessly.
