2025 Audi S8 Review – Overview

The 2025 Audi S8 is a fast and fancy car that looks powerful and simple on the exterior, but it has strong power inside. It looks like the Audi A8 a little bit at first glance. But the S8 is much more powerful. It has a twin-turbo V8 engine with 563 horsepower. It is 228 more powerful than the Audi A6’s V6 engine. The S8’s strong engine makes it speedier and more fun to drive.

Even though the S8 is a large sedan, it’s not just made for straight roads. It also performs well around curves and turns. That’s because it has smart features like a torque-vectoring rear differential and rear-wheel steering, which help it stay stable and sharp when taking a turn. So, whether you’re driving on highways or winding roads, the S8 feels smooth and sporty simultaneously.

When you’re not behind the wheel and prefer to sit back, the rear seats offer a luxury experience. The back of the car is very spacious and can be filled with advanced comfort and tech features. This makes it feel like a traveling office or relaxing room, perfect for people who want to relax or even work while traveling.

The Audi S8 is part of a special category of luxury performance cars. One of its few real competitors is the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, which is more powerful at 791 horsepower but also comes with a much higher price tag. Audi also offers the RS7 Sportback and RS6 Avant, which use an even stronger version of the same engine found in the S8. These two are a bit smaller, more stylish in appearance, a little quicker, and more useful in daily life because of their back-door car designs.

What’s New for 2025?

For 2025, Audi has made a few decent updates to the S8. Presently, expansive 21-inch wheels and the Extended Leather package come as standard highlights. The official bundle now includes additional premium touches like a head-up display and warmed rear seats with controls.

If you select the luxury package, you do indeed get more high-end highlights. These include rare Network Driven reading lights in the rear, ventilated and touch-raised seats, new Advanced Matrix-style Driven headlamps, and a remote control for raised riders to change their comfort settings. Audi has, moreover, made a little but valuable change—physical buttons have been included for the garage door opener, which used to be, as it were, accessible through the infotainment system.

2025 Audi S8 – Pricing and Which One to Buy

The 2025 Audi S8 price starts at $126,595.

That price is for a fancy car, but the S8 has many smart features even in the basic model. If you’re planning to buy one, we recommend going for the Comfort Plus package. This adds nice upgrades like heated rear seats, a head-up display, and more advanced LED headlights.

Another great option is the Executive package, which includes safety and driver-assist features such as blind-spot monitoring, smart steady driving speed control with lane-keeping assist, and even a remote parking assist system. These extra features make the driving experience smoother, safer, and more enjoyable.

2025 Audi S8 – Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2025 Audi S8 comes with just one engine choice, but it’s a powerful one. It features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 563 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The car comes with all-wheel drive as standard and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifting.

Audi says the S8 can go as fast as 155 mph and has smart technology to save fuel. This includes a cylinder deactivation system, which turns off some engine cylinders when they’re not needed, and a mild-hybrid setup that uses a small electric motor and battery to improve efficiency.

For an even better ride, you can get the optional active suspension system, which adjusts each wheel individually to make the drive more comfortable and stable. This suspension is specially tuned for the S8 to reduce body roll, which means the car stays more level and controlled during fast cornering.

To help with handling, Audi has added smart features like a torque-vectoring rear differential and rear-wheel steering, both of which make the car quicker and easier to move and fun to drive. If you want maximum braking power, carbon-ceramic brakes are available as an upgrade.

0–60 MPH Time

When tested, the Audi S8 appeared just as fast as it is. It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.2 seconds, which is amazingly fast for an expensive luxury vehicle. To compare, the standard A8 took 5.3 seconds to reach 60 mph. It is just slightly quicker than the Audi RS7, one of Audi’s fastest four-door gas-powered vehicles with 605 horsepower, which reaches 60 mph in 3.0 seconds.

2025 Audi S8 – Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

Even though the S8 uses mild-hybrid technology, don’t expect it to be super fuel-efficient. It’s built for performance, not savings at the pump. According to EPA estimates, the S8 gets 13 miles per gallon in the city and up to 22 miles per gallon on the highway. That’s not great, but it’s what you’d expect from a powerful, heavy sedan.

We haven’t had an opportunity to test its actual fuel efficiency on our highway loop at 75 mph yet, but we’ll update this as soon as we do. For now, you can check the EPA’s official website for more details on the S8’s fuel efficiency.

2025 Audi S8 – Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Luxury and expertise are the main features of the Audi S8’s space. You’ll find premium materials everywhere, including soft leather seats, a suede-like headliner, and a stitched leather dashboard. The front seats come standard with heating, cooling, and massage features, giving the driver and passenger a relaxing ride.

In the back, there’s plenty of space for passengers to stretch out and feel comfortable. If you want to make the rear seats even more luxurious, you can choose the Rear Seat Comfort package. This adds power-adjustable rear seats with heating, airflow, and massage, plus upgraded headrests, heated armrests, and a remote control to adjust the car’s entertainment and comfort settings.

The S8 also includes four-zone automatic climate control, so everyone can set their temperature, and multi-color ambient lighting, which adds a stylish and calming atmosphere. In our luggage test, it accepted six carry-on bags, which is more than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (5 bags) and BMW 7 Series. The trunk space is the same as the A8 (just 3 bags).

2025 Audi S8 – Infotainment and Connectivity

Just like the regular A8, the S8 is packed with high-end tech features. There are multiple touchscreens that control things like the climate system, navigation, music, and more. Audi’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display comes standard and shows everything from speed to navigation directions in crisp detail.

You also get a 10.1-inch main screen and an 8.6-inch secondary display below it for controlling other settings. The car supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, has an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot, and comes with built-in GPS navigation. There’s also a wireless charging pad so you can charge your smartphone without needing cables.

Music lovers will enjoy the standard 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and for those who want even more, Audi offers an upgrade to a 23-speaker premium system for amazing sound quality.

2025 Audi S8 – Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The Audi S8 comes with a solid set of standard safety features, and there are even more advanced systems available as optional upgrades. If you want to know how the S8 performs in crash tests, check out the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.

Here are some of the key safety features:

  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode

2025 Audi S8 – Warranty and Service Coverage

Like most other Audi vehicles, the S8 comes with a standard four-year or 50,000-mile warranty, which covers both the basic vehicle and the powertrain. However, Audi does not offer complimentary scheduled maintenance, which some competitors do. For example, BMW and Volvo both offer three years of free maintenance with their luxury sedans.

  • Limited warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles
  • Scheduled maintenance: Not included
